From gavelhouse.com Graduate to Sha Tin Winner

Merrygowin, a graduate of the very first gavelhouse.com New Zealand online auction, franked his fantastic debut performance last month with a win yesterday for ex-pat Kiwi trainer Paul O’Sullivan and the Merry-Go-Lucky Syndicate.

The strength of his debut third saw him step out the favourite in yesterday’s 1200m Citi Wealth Management Services Handicap at Sha Tin. The son of Castledale rewarded the throngs that backed him with a strong win, making up good ground to defeat his 13 rivals.

Justifying his ‘black-booker’ status after his debut run, jockey Zac Purton readily gave the gelding praise, hinting there’s more in the tank of the still somewhat green galloper commenting “It’s easy to see he’s got his fair share of ability and he will be even better over 1400m to a mile.”

Prepared in New Zealand by Awapuni-based trainer Gary Vile, Merrygowin was listed on gavelhouse.com as a trial winning three year old and sold for NZ$68,000.
