Another Win for Graduate Classic Touch

553067.jpg graduate Classic Touch made a big impression at Thursday’s Hawkes Bay premier meeting winning the NZB National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale 8-10 May 1600m in fine style.

Hunterville-based trainer Lydia Pickford reaped a quick return on her $1,200 NZ  December purchase with a win on debut at Woodville at the end of January and yesterday’s win taking her earnings to $16,875 from just three starts.

Ridden by Robert Hannam, the Guillotine mare made up good ground to take the lead 100m and defeat her 12 rivals.

“I’m thrilled with the result and with Gr.1 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks Day at Trentham approaching there are two options there that look suitable,” commented Pickford.

“I’m tossing up between the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes or the Rating 75 mile for her depending on what improvement she takes out of yesterday’s run.”

From the three-time winner Marzia, Classic Touch was bred by Scott Richardson Bloodstock Ltd and joined Sha Tin winner Merrygowin and Patrick Campbell’s Scandalo as this week’s winners bought off
