Krusty hot in the Hot 100 Guineas

krustygavelhouse.com Australia graduate Krusty recorded a dramatic victory on Saturday in the Hot 100 Guineas on day one of the Darwin Cup Carnival at Fannie Bay.

Sold on account of trainer Joe Pride in April, the progressive three year old had been racing in consistent good form as a Sydney metro-winning son of Sebring and attracted plenty of interest from several bidders.

Flemington-based trainer Stephen Brown struck the final blow to secure Krusty at $75,000 with a view of targeting the Darwin Carnival and Saturday’s win was his second run under his new ownership group having finished third a fortnight earlier.

Krusty has returned prizemoney of $49,250 to his new connections to date and now heads to the Northern Territory Derby and potentially the Darwin Cup. A clean sweep in the Guineas, Derby and Cup would see him become the third horse to take out the Ladbrokes Triple Crown, worth another $100,000 to connections if successful.

“We thought we would get the best out of Krusty as a four year old, but the fact he is now a chance of winning the Triple Crown is exciting.

“On today’s effort, it shouldn’t be a problem when he steps up to 2000m” commented Elisha Brown when interviewed by the Darwin Turf Club on behalf of the stable.

Entries for the next gavelhouse.com Australia auction close at 7pm AEST tonight with Josh Murphy on hand to assist with listings via josh@gavelhouse.com or +61 3 9614 4882.
