Trainer John Price hopes he can help boost the sale value of King River (Haradasun) when the gelding runs at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
The rising seven-year-old, who is owned by Perth-based Bob Peters, is accepted for the Silver Thomas Hanley Plate (1200m) and is also entered for sale on the gavelhouse.com online auction.
King River has won five of his 15 starts including at his most recent start at Caulfield on 14 April.
“Bob’s got a lot of youngsters coming through and he is six going on seven and needs a wet track because of his feet,” Price told Racing.com. “Bob gets 20 or 30 horses each year, which means he’s probably got to get rid of 25 or 30 each year.
That’s his system and how he does it, which works, so you certainly don’t want to question him.”
The auction will close from 7pm AEST on Monday 18 June.
