Winning with a half-length in hand over 1200m, the four-year-old son of Astronomer Royal was bought by trainer Phillip Cole in October. Having been spelling, he had previously had four starts for Lee and Shannon Hope in country Victoria with his best result being a debut fourth at Seymour a year earlier.
Going into the race off the back of a confidence-boosting trial win over 900m at the track 10 days earlier, Looking For You repaid his $8,500 purchase price with the $11,375 winners’ cheque and looks poised to add to this further.
“Our trainer Phillip Cole does a fantastic job and the stable jockey Jarrod Todd rode him brilliantly,” said co-owner Gerard Wilkie.
Looking for You is out of a multiple winning Hussonet mare You I Find who has produced two to race for two winners and is also a half-sister to seven-time winner and stakes performer Big Lightning.
