Octogenerian horseman Tony Prendergast, who trains in partnership with his wife Lyn, saddled their five-year-old gavelhouse.com buy Trudeau to win at Oamaru on Wednesday, with the son of Pins relishing the Good3 surface that was presented.
Trudeau was previously trained by the Cambridge-based Baker-Forsman stable who sold him through gavelhouse.com for $5,500 in September last year. In less than a year with the Prendergast Stable he has accrued $45,060 in prize money.
Prendergast, who is enjoying a strong season said he was confident Trudeau would be a good winning chance following the scratching of race rival and fellow gavelhouse.com graduate Moyrabella.
“He doesn’t mind a firm track and he is pretty versatile. He can go on any surface, so we were pretty confident,” Prendergast said.
“He was a bit on the fresh-side, as he hasn’t raced for a while, but Jake (Jacob Lowry) rode him beautifully.” – NZ Racing News.
