Quick fire treble for gavelhouse.com graduates at Otaki

Thursday’s race meeting at Otaki proved to be a fruitful day out for gavelhouse.com graduates, with a quick-fire treble in races two, three and four.

Early in the meeting, Andre Wallace’s $800 buy Beadman (Alamosa) provided the Foxton local with a milestone in his first winner. Settling on the back of midfield, rider Ashvin Mudhoo peeled the Alamosa gelding out widest in the straight to claim victory in the final bounds.

The following race unfolded with the John Bary-trained filly Apache Woman soaring home late to claim the hotly contested Telegraph Hotel Otaki 3yo Maiden. Being forced back in the running from the wide draw, the Reliable Man filly out of stakes-winning mare Cryptic proved too strong, winning by two lengths thanks to a well-executed ride from Lisa Allpress. Bought by Howard Jones for $5,250 just 12 months ago, Apache Woman beat home Secret Falls (Sacred Falls) and Hilary Banks (Nadeem) who ran second and third respectively, culminating in a gavelhouse.com fillies trifecta to boot.

Rounding off the gavelhouse.com hat trick was Clickety Click in the Ablaze Landscaping Maiden over 1200m. Trained by Kevin Gray and ridden by Mereana Hudson, the Rock ‘N’ Pop mare sat off the speed in the running before weaving through the field to salute by half a length. Clickety Clack was a $2,100 buy from Waikato Stud as a weanling in July 2018.

Heading into the weekend, gavelhouse.com graduates to follow at Trentham’s premier meeting include Miss Bonny Rose in the Listed IRT Wellesley Stakes, Pep Torque in the Gr.3 Dixon and Dunlop Anniversary Handicap and Third Time Round in the Gr.2 Life Direct Wellington Guineas while recent Taupo Cup winner Hunta Pence is a live chance in the Gr.3 Mode Technology Trentham Stakes.
